Zusammenfassung

Die Idee von Automatisierung und Digitalisierung reicht geschichtlich sehr weit zurück: Ca. 60 v. Chr. konstruierte Heron von Alexandria einen Wagen, der eine vorgegebene Strecke abfahren konnte. Das Fuhrwerk wurde von einem Seil mit einem Gewicht angetrieben. Die Richtung des Wagens konnte mithilfe von Stiften geändert werden, sozusagen einem primitiven Vorläufer des heutigen Binärcodes (EU Automation, 2016).
