In hydrogen combustion, only nitrogen oxides are produced as emission-relevant exhaust gas components. These can be reduced to a minimum by employing an intelligently designed combustion process in lean-burn operation and with exhaust gas recirculation. However, a completely nitrogen oxide free combustion cannot be ensured at all operating points. For this reason, the Keyou is cooperating with TU Freiberg to develop a catalyst by which the nitrogen oxides are efficiently removed from the exhaust gas by hydrogen. This H2-deNOx catalyst is to be optimized in particular for the exhaust gas composition of the H2 combustion engine and low NOx contents of ≤ 50 vppm. In this paper, first research results are presented. …
