Abstract

The study investigates the long-term dynamics of primary and secondary tree stands in the Veps Forest Natural Reserve, focusing on the recovery of middle taiga forest communities after clear-cutting. By comparing the structural characteristics and productivity of secondary forests with those of primary forests, the research aims to develop recommendations for sustainable forest management. The study highlights the significant differences in recovery rates and species composition between secondary and primary forests, with secondary forests exhibiting rapid timber stock accumulation but differing structural characteristics. Notably, the research identifies the influence of initial and post-harvest conditions on the recovery dynamics of secondary forests, providing valuable insights for forest management practices.
