Hardware implementation of improved transformer-less grid-connected pv inverter topologies with constant common mode voltage and enhanced efficiency

Abstract

The article addresses the challenges of transformer-less grid-connected PV inverters, particularly the issues of leakage current and electromagnetic interference. It introduces a novel H6-inverter topology that maintains constant common mode voltage and enhances efficiency. The proposed inverter is compared with existing topologies such as H5, H6-I, H6-II, and HERIC, demonstrating superior performance in reducing conduction losses and leakage current. The research is validated through simulations in MATLAB/SIMULINK and real-time testing using OPAL-RT, showcasing the practical applicability and advantages of the novel design.
