Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study on the heating and cooling conditions of regenerators in a converter gas recovery scheme for metallurgical combines. It discusses the mathematical simulation of heat exchange in regenerators, proposes a novel scheme using a steam-turbine plant instead of a combined-cycle gas turbine, and provides detailed numerical results on temperature distributions and heat transfer efficiencies. The scheme includes a supplementary firing unit to maintain constant airflow and temperature, ensuring optimal performance of the heat-recovery steam generator. The study also addresses aerodynamic losses and the economic feasibility of the proposed scheme, highlighting its potential to generate significant energy savings and rapid payback period.
