Natural gas is particularly suitable as an energy source for reducing CO 2 emissions from internal combustion engines, even in the commercial sector. On the one hand, due to its low carbon content, less CO 2 is produced during combustion compared to other fossil fuels. On the other hand, the recently much-discussed Power-to-X (PtX) method makes it possible to produce natural gas as a CO 2-neutral energy source in the future. Deutz is taking this development into account and has developed a high-performance natural gas engine for heavy-duty applications up to a functioning test bench demonstrator in cooperation with the University of Rostock. ...
