Abstract

The article introduces a high-performance humidity sensor fabricated from an imidazole derivative, 2-(4,5-Diphenyl-1H-Imidazole-2-yl)phenol. This novel material exhibits high sensitivity, low hysteresis, and efficient water molecule accommodation due to its unique morphology, which includes rectangular-shaped flakes, voids, and pore-channels. The sensor's capacitive and resistive responses were tested at various humidity levels, demonstrating excellent performance. The intermolecular interactions and water molecule sensing mechanism are thoroughly discussed, highlighting the sensor's superior capabilities compared to existing technologies. The article also covers the sensor's fabrication process, including material synthesis and electrode deposition, providing a comprehensive overview of its development and potential applications in electronics and environmental monitoring.
