Abstract

The article presents the development of a highly selective, reusable nanolayered sorbent for the extraction of hazardous As(III) from environmental samples. The sorbent is based on ion-imprinted polymers (IIPs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), offering superior adsorption capacity and selectivity. The study explores the synthesis, characterization, and optimization of the MWCNT-IIP, highlighting its exceptional performance in binding As(III) ions. The research also includes detailed kinetic studies, selectivity tests, and reusability studies, showcasing the practical applicability of the sorbent in real-world environmental samples. The article concludes by emphasizing the potential of MWCNT-IIP in addressing the critical need for efficient As(III) removal from contaminated water sources.
