Abstract

This article presents a qualitative study that investigates how coaching supervisors experience and use mindfulness within their practice. By conducting semi-structured interviews with experienced supervisors, the research aims to identify and describe the meaningful dynamics and themes in mindful coaching supervision. The study employs a phenomenological and social constructivist approach, focusing on the perspectives of the supervisors themselves. Key themes emerging from the interviews include presence, attention, awareness, and non-judgmental attitudes. The findings suggest that mindfulness enhances the capability and capacity of supervisees to be fully present and aware during coaching sessions. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of creating a safe and enabling context for supervisees, which is mutually beneficial for both coaching supervisors and supervisees. This research contributes to the development of effective mindful coaching supervision and underscores the value of mindfulness in enhancing the quality of supervision and coaching practice.
