Abstract

The IFIM Business School, a new-age management institution in India, has founded a rather unique mentoring programme—which recently bagged a top prize from among 40 business schools—in which corporate leaders are mentoring students who will be future managers. The aim is to ensure that these students are more industry ready and better attuned to facing the challenges of leadership. Both students and corporate mentors were asked about their views on the ideal type of mentorship suited to India, and also about what constitutes an ideal mentor or protégé. Perception of participants in the mentoring dyad is an important measure of quality outcome of the mentoring programme.
