Abstract

This chapter delves into the application of Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) for turbomachinery, focusing on high-performance centrifugal compressors in the oil and gas industry. It discusses the challenges posed by high-density gases and rotodynamic instability, emphasizing the need for advanced manufacturing technologies and acceptance tests. The study compares OMA with Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) and explores the feasibility of OMA in field tests. It also presents a case study at a Petrobras refinery, demonstrating the practical application of OMA to measure rotodynamic parameters. The chapter concludes with proposals for future research, aiming to extend OMA technology to other types of turbomachinery.
