Abstract

Human factors is an interdisciplinary field that has developed with the advancement of industrialization and technological progress. It encompasses multiple disciplines, including psychology, sociology, engineering, industrial design, and user experience. Therefore, providing an accurate definition for human factors is not straightforward. The definition widely accepted in the academic community was proposed by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) in 2000: Human factors is the discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data, and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance.
