Abstract

The article discusses the critical need for renewable energy sources, particularly wind energy, to combat climate change and reduce fossil fuel dependence. It introduces a hybrid-optimized PI controller for integrating high-speed Switching Reluctance Generators (SRG) into wind energy microgrids, highlighting the advantages of SRGs such as cost-effectiveness and high efficiency. The proposed controller, tuned using a combination of Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm and Whale Optimization Algorithm, enhances the stability and reliability of the microgrid system. The study includes detailed modeling, simulation, and experimental validation, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed controller in maintaining a stable DC link voltage and achieving grid synchronization. The results show a significant reduction in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) compared to existing methods, making the proposed approach a promising solution for wind energy integration in microgrids.
