Abstract

The chapter delves into the growing interest in social network analysis (SNA) of organizational structures, particularly those based on email communication. It introduces key concepts such as centrality measures (degree, closeness, and betweenness) to identify influential actors within the network. The study focuses on a public organization in Poland, using anonymized email data to construct and analyze the social network. The main contribution is the discovery of key properties and actors in the network, with a comparison to the organization's real structure. The analysis reveals that centrality measures can effectively identify key players, providing valuable insights for organizational management. The chapter concludes with a discussion of future research directions, including the analysis of external email communication and the temporal dynamics of the network.
