Image-Based Approach for Generating Facial Expressions

Abstract

In this paper we present a new approach to automatically generate realistic facial expressions by using image based techniques. The proposed approach aims to combine a deformation method with the Phong illumination model. We use real images of real person to generate 2D animations. However, we created an algorithm which consists of changing the color of a party of face in order to give a lot of realism to the deformation methods. The purpose is to propose methods to improve the process of creating realistic facial animations and to facilitate the communication between deaf and hearing impaired people.
