Abstract

The article presents a study on the IMC-PI control method for regulating the output voltage of solar PV systems with battery charging functionalities using a buck converter. It highlights the motivations, limitations, and research gaps in the field, and introduces a straightforward IMC-PI controller design optimized for robustness against uncertainties. The proposed controller is validated through comprehensive simulations and hardware experiments, demonstrating superior performance compared to other control methods. The study includes a detailed analysis of the controller's effectiveness in handling environmental variations and parametric uncertainties, making it a significant contribution to the field of renewable energy systems.
