Abstract

This chapter delves into the significant impact of happiness at work and work-life balance on employee citizenship behaviours. It begins with an introduction to the growing interest in the work-life balance concept, emphasising its importance for overall life quality. The literature review explores the dimensions of happiness at work, including employee engagement, job satisfaction, and affective organisational commitment, and their influence on organisational citizenship behaviour. The study then presents a theoretical model and methodology, including a quantitative survey of employees in the oil and gas industry in the UAE. The results indicate positive correlations between work-life balance, happiness at work, and organisational citizenship behaviour, suggesting that enhancing these factors can significantly improve employee performance and organisational success. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the findings and implications for future research and practice.
