Abstract

The article delves into the intricate world of quantum computing, focusing on the performance of Grover’s algorithm in the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) era. It examines how different hardware connectivity topologies, both unidirectional and bidirectional, influence the efficiency and success probability of quantum search algorithms under noisy conditions. The study evaluates nine distinct coupling maps, including linear, fully connected, ring, grid, hexagon, star, and their modified variants, to determine their impact on Grover’s algorithm. The analysis reveals that grid, modified star, and hexagon topologies offer the best performance, considering factors such as connectivity, degree, transpilation efficiency, and algorithm success probability. The article also highlights the importance of optimizing hardware connectivity to mitigate cross-talk noise and reduce the cost of system implementation. Furthermore, it employs the AHP-TOPSIS decision-making technique to rank the coupling maps, providing a robust framework for selecting the most effective hardware configurations. The findings offer valuable insights into the practical implementation of quantum search algorithms, paving the way for advancements in quantum computing and cryptography.
