Abstract

The article delves into the efficacy of laser hardening in improving the surface properties of billets from structural materials. It discusses the challenges faced in industrial production due to the high demands for reliability and durability, and how laser hardening offers a promising solution. The study focuses on the use of laser hardening to enhance hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength of materials without altering their chemical composition. The research conducted at South Ural State University investigates the optimal parameters for laser hardening using 40X alloy steel samples, demonstrating significant improvements in microhardness and surface quality. The findings highlight the potential of laser hardening in extending the service life of critical components and its applicability to high-entropy alloys, making it a valuable resource for professionals seeking advanced surface treatment methods.
