Implementation of Box–Behnken design to study the factors interaction impacts and modelling of the surface roughness of AL 6063 alloys during turning operations

Abstract

The study focuses on the implementation of Box–Behnken design to analyze the interaction of machining parameters on surface roughness during the turning of AL 6063 alloys. It delves into the impact of spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut on surface roughness, using a zirconium nitride-coated M42 high-speed steel cutting tool. The research models the surface roughness and evaluates the effectiveness of the Box–Behnken design in predicting and optimizing the machining process. The findings demonstrate the significance of the chosen factors and the model's high predictive accuracy, making it a valuable resource for professionals in the field of machining and materials science.
