Implementation of Technology for Preparing Blast Furnace Sludge for Subsequent Use in Sinter Charges at the Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works

The article presents a detailed implementation of technology for preparing blast furnace sludge for use in sinter charges at the Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works. It emphasizes the importance of reusing secondary resources in ferrous metallurgy to reduce costs and waste. The technology involves the acceptance, storage, and blending of sludge with other components of the sinter charge. Challenges such as sludge dehydration and blending are addressed, with a focus on the specific surface area and chemical composition of different sludges. The article also discusses the development of a new technology for preliminary joint mixing of sludge and dry materials, resulting in a homogeneous mixture with improved transportability and minimal dust emission. The experimental period showed increased consumption of secondary materials and reduced consumption of expensive iron ore components, while maintaining sinter quality. The study concludes with the development of a technology for the preparation and utilization of metallurgical production waste, highlighting the benefits of increased waste usage and reduced consumption of primary resources.
