Abstract

The article delves into the significant improvements in mechanical performance and swelling resistance of ethylene propylene diene monomer/styrene butadiene rubber (EPDM/SBR) nanocomposites achieved through the incorporation of graphene oxide (GO) and ionic liquid-modified GO (GO-IL). It discusses the enhanced dispersion and interfacial bonding provided by GO-IL, which results in superior tensile strength, tear resistance, and reduced solvent uptake. The study also examines the curing behavior, hardness, abrasion resistance, and compression set of the nanocomposites, highlighting the benefits of GO-IL over traditional GO reinforcement. The research provides valuable insights into the potential of ionic liquid modification for advanced material reinforcement in the rubber industry.
