Over the last two decades, a stealthy revolution has taken place. At the end of 2000, only one in every five cars produced in Germany had an automatic gearbox. Now the figure is one in every two. While the changeover from three to two pedals in the driver's footwell is progressing, the evolution of this revolution may already be taking place. Because although there are still two pedals, only one of them is really being used. The magic words here are "regenerative braking." ...
