Abstract

The chapter delves into the optimization of an air-conditioning pipes production line in the automotive industry using Lean and CONWIP methodologies. The study aimed to determine the line's capacity, identify bottlenecks, and apply continuous improvement tools to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Through a detailed variability study and multiple iterations of improvement, the research achieved a notable increase in production efficiency and OEE. The implementation of tools such as Just-In-Time, Kanban, Heijunka, and Standardized Processes, along with mechanical and organizational improvements, led to a substantial boost in production rates and a more balanced, efficient line. The results demonstrate the practical benefits of integrating Lean principles and CONWIP methodologies in complex manufacturing environments.
