Abstract

The article delves into the critical challenge of improving the cold resistance of K60 pipe steel, essential for main pipelines in harsh environments like the Far North and Arctic. It examines the impact of antiflaking heat treatment (AFHT) and aging processes on mechanical properties, highlighting the complex interplay of metallurgical processes such as hydrogen motivation and phase transformations. The study reveals that aging can either degrade or enhance cold resistance, depending on the specific steel composition and heat treatment methods. Notably, it emphasizes the role of hydrogen brittleness and the need for optimal heat treatment regimes to stabilize the mechanical properties of steel. The research offers valuable insights into the microstructural changes and stress relaxation processes that occur during aging, contributing to the development of more resilient pipeline materials.
