Abstract

The chapter delves into the psychological effects of social networking sites (SNSs) and photo editing tools on young adults. It focuses on the relationship between SNSs use, selfie behaviors, and psychological wellbeing, particularly the impact on facial appearance and anxiety levels. The study employs Bayesian networks to analyze these complex interrelationships, providing a comprehensive understanding of how digital self-image and psychological constructs interact. The use of Bayesian networks allows for a sophisticated 'what-if' analysis, enabling the examination of how changes in one variable affect others. This approach offers valuable insights for policymakers and professionals aiming to regulate SNSs usage and promote digital wellbeing among young adults.
