Abstract

This article introduces a new multi-mediated semi-quantum key distribution (MM-SQKD) protocol that significantly improves efficiency while maintaining a high noise tolerance. The protocol allows two legitimate users, Alice and Bob, to establish a secure key with the assistance of two mediators, even if the mediators are adversaries. The key improvements include a threefold increase in efficiency compared to the original MM-SQKD protocol, achieved by modifying the way Alice and Bob generate the secret key. The article provides a detailed security analysis, demonstrating a noise tolerance of 16.4% when two mediators are adversaries. The protocol's security is analyzed using an entropic uncertainty relation, reducing the two-way MM-SQKD to a one-way protocol for easier analysis. The article also compares the new protocol with existing ones, highlighting its advantages in terms of efficiency and practicality. The findings suggest that the new MM-SQKD protocol is a significant advancement in the field of quantum key distribution, offering a more efficient and secure method for establishing secure keys in real-world applications.
