Gordon Tullock’s passing on November 3, 2014, was mourned by scholars of economics, public choice, and political science around the world. Gordon was internationally known and respected for his seminal contributions to public choice, Constitutional Political Economy, Rent Seeking, Law, and Economic Imperialism as well as for his leadership as Co-founder and President of the Public Choice Society 1962–1964, long-serving editor of the Public Choice journal beginning in 1966, and President of the Southern Economic Association, 1979–1980. In 1998, he was named Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association and, in 2000, President of the Association for Private Enterprise Education. But to those of us fortunate enough to know him well, Gordon was much more than a brilliant scholar. He was a teacher, tormentor, mentor, colleague, co-author, benevolent dictator, and a wonderful friend. …
