Abstract

The article focuses on the characterization and size estimation of incipient cracks in aviation engine blades using Eddy Current Testing (ECT). It introduces a novel method combining Jensen–Shannon Divergence and Wasserstein Distance to accurately characterize cracks, even those with similar surface areas. Additionally, the study presents a correction method for simulation signals, enhancing the accuracy of finite element modeling (FEM) in ECT. This approach extends experimental data and enables precise estimation of crack sizes, making it a valuable resource for professionals in the field of structural health monitoring and aerospace engineering.
