Abstract

As the fire protection engineering profession was emerging, then-President of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, Rolf Jensen, saw the need for an allied fire information organization composed of fire librarians and information specialists to assist the fire engineer in having access to information needed to complete a job. The story of how the international network for Fire Information and Reference Exchange (inFIRE) evolved is presented, incorporating how some world events impacted upon the organization.
