Abstract

The article delves into the impact of freeze-thaw cycles on the compressibility of clay used in core-wall soil materials. It discusses how these cycles alter the physical properties, including soil structure, volume, void ratio, dry density, and moisture content, which in turn affects the mechanical properties such as compressibility, elastic modulus, and shear strength. The study focuses on the cryostructure characteristics and moisture migration patterns within the soil, highlighting the significant influence of initial moisture content, cooling temperature, and the number of freeze-thaw cycles. The research involves detailed experimental methods and analyses, providing valuable insights into the behavior of clay under freeze-thaw conditions, which is crucial for the design and safety of infrastructure in cold regions.
