Abstract

Here we present some results of modeling the influence of the horizontal (advection) heat transfer in the atmospheric boundary layer on its temperature and humidity regime and energy exchange with the ocean surface. Response of the SOA brightness temperature at various wavelengths to changes of the air temperature and humidity vertical distribution is considered. Relationships between the SOA brightness temperature and near-surface fluxes of sensible and latent heat for different types of air temperature and humidity stratification in the atmospheric boundary layer are studied. The estimates of the impact of horizontal transfer on the structure of meteorological fields in the atmospheric boundary layer and its energy exchange with the ocean presented in this chapter indicate that characteristics of energy exchange between the ocean and atmosphere strongly depend from horizontal warm advection within the ABL.
