Abstract

This chapter delves into the influence of hot water curing on the mechanical properties of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) enhanced with alumina powder. The study focuses on the significant improvements in compressive and flexural strength, particularly at early ages, and the microstructural changes observed through Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis. The research demonstrates that the addition of alumina powder and hot water curing significantly enhances the early-age compressive strength of UHPC, with all modified specimens surpassing the minimum UHPC strength requirement of 120 MPa. The SEM images reveal a denser and less porous structure in UHPC with alumina powder cured at 90°C, contributing to improved mechanical properties and durability. The findings highlight the crucial role of alumina powder and hot water curing in optimizing the performance of UHPC for demanding structural applications. The study concludes that the incorporation of alumina powder in UHPC significantly enhances its mechanical properties, with the best results achieved through hot water curing at 90°C. This combination optimizes early strength development and long-term performance, making alumina powder a valuable supplementary cementitious material for high-performance construction applications.
