Abstract

The article investigates the influence of hydraulic fracturing and stress unloading on fracture propagation in deep coal seam excavation, addressing critical issues such as stress concentration and impact risks. It compares hydraulic fracturing with traditional methods like blasting and water injection, highlighting its advantages in terms of cost and safety. The study employs the Continuous–Discontinuous Element Method (CDEM) to simulate the spatiotemporal evolution of stress and fracture fields, providing a detailed analysis of stress migration and fracture propagation under varying injection pressures. The research reveals that hydraulic fracturing can significantly reduce stress concentration, but excessive injection pressures may lead to large-scale fracturing and new stress concentration phenomena. The article also explores the formation of characteristic 'H'-shaped hydraulic fractures under high geostress conditions and the impact of injection pressure on fracture propagation and integrity. Additionally, it introduces the concepts of Fracture Degree and stress unloading rate to quantify the fracturing effects, offering a comprehensive evaluation of multi-factor fracturing in deep coal seams.
