Abstract

This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the distribution of the rolling power along the length of AD33 aluminum alloy strips with an initial size of 3 mm × 25 mm × 190 mm using various roll lubricants on a laboratory-grade 150 × 235 two-high rolling mill. A quantitative analysis of the effect of the lubricants used (SP3, I40, and sunflower oil) on changes in power and dimensions along the length of the strips rolled with a reduction of 20% was performed. The analysis of the adequacy of the stressed-state coefficient application proposed by A. I. Tselikov, M. D. Stone, and E. Siebel in the models for calculating the pressure and power of thin strips rolling was also conducted. The equation for determining the average metal pressure on the rolls was clarified, considering the influence of the outer parts and stiffness of the strip on the deformation zone when strips are rolled using different lubricants. The given equations can increase the accuracy of calculating pressure and power in cold rolling of thin strips and bands of aluminum and aluminum alloys, which are especially important for mills none-quipped with rolling power control systems.
