Abstract

This chapter delves into the multifaceted effects of replacing Portland cement with limestone powder (LSP) in concrete. It examines the impact of LSP on workability, compressive strength, flexural strength, and the concrete's performance under high temperatures. The study reveals that while LSP can enhance workability and maintain strength up to a certain replacement percentage, higher substitution rates can lead to a decline in mechanical properties. Notably, the research highlights the optimal replacement level of 10% LSP, which balances the improvement in workability and strength with minimal loss in durability. The findings offer valuable insights into the sustainable use of LSP in concrete production, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and energy consumption in the construction industry.
