Abstract

The article investigates the influence of natural weathering on the properties of palm petiole fibers/LLDPE composites, addressing the critical issue of polymer waste and its environmental impact. It begins by discussing the environmental and economic benefits of bio-polymer composites, which offer a sustainable alternative to conventional materials. The study focuses on the degradation of these composites under natural weathering conditions, including exposure to UV radiation, moisture, and temperature variations. Key findings include changes in the composites' mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and Young's modulus, as well as alterations in their structural, morphological, and aesthetic characteristics. The article provides a detailed analysis of the degradation mechanisms, supported by FTIR spectroscopy, SEM imaging, and tensile testing results. It also explores the role of chemical treatments in enhancing the composites' resistance to weathering and their potential applications in outdoor environments. The research underscores the importance of understanding the long-term behavior of bio-composites under natural weathering conditions, paving the way for the development of more durable and sustainable materials.
