Abstract

This chapter delves into the experimental study of using stone quarry dust as a partial replacement for natural sand in concrete, focusing on its effects on compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths. The research highlights that incorporating up to 45% stone quarry dust significantly enhances the compressive strength of concrete by 30%, tensile strength by 13%, and flexural strength by 29%. The study also explores the economic and environmental benefits of utilizing stone quarry dust, which is otherwise considered waste material. The findings suggest that a 45% replacement of natural sand with stone quarry dust is optimal for improving concrete performance while minimizing solid waste. The chapter provides valuable insights into sustainable construction practices and the potential of stone quarry dust as a viable alternative to natural sand in concrete production.
