Abstract

The article investigates the influence of variable-depth groove textures on the friction and wear performance of GCr15–SiC friction pairs under water lubrication. It introduces the design and optimization of two types of groove textures using computational fluid dynamics, aiming to enhance the load-bearing capacity and reduce friction. The study includes theoretical analysis, numerical simulations, and experimental validation, focusing on the tribological properties and lubrication mechanisms under varying conditions. The results demonstrate significant improvements in friction reduction and wear resistance, particularly for the shallow inner and deep outer groove texture (SDT). The article highlights the role of the groove bottom shape in collecting and expelling wear particles, the formation of oxide tribofilms, and the enhancement of the polarization electric field, contributing to better lubrication and reduced wear. The findings offer valuable insights for the development of advanced surface texturing techniques in mechanical systems, promoting energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
