Abstract

JX Advanced Metals Corporation is committed to establishing a stable and environmentally friendly copper supply system through its 'Green Hybrid Smelting' process. This chapter explores the company's efforts to increase the ratio of secondary raw materials in copper production to 50% by 2040, focusing on the removal of impurities such as nickel, antimony, and bismuth. The process flow of JX Metals Smelting is outlined, highlighting the integration of secondary raw materials and the subsequent electrorefining process. The chapter details the improvements made to the impurity removal processes, including the expansion of nickel removal capacity and the enhancement of the chelating resin process for antimony and bismuth removal. These enhancements have resulted in significant increases in impurity removal capacities, ensuring the maintenance of high-quality copper production. The chapter concludes with the company's vision for future process reinforcements to achieve its long-term sustainability goals.
