Abstract

The chapter examines the critical role of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) in fostering innovation and enhancing the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. It highlights how EO enables SMEs to seize opportunities, drive product innovations, and improve their market position despite the challenges posed by rapid technological and market changes. The study underscores the importance of exploitative and exploratory innovations as mediating factors between EO and SME performance, demonstrating how these innovations can bolster competitive advantage and sustainability. Through a detailed analysis of empirical data from various regions in Indonesia, the chapter provides a nuanced understanding of how entrepreneurial leaders can navigate turbulence and drive continuous improvement in SME performance. It also addresses the theoretical gap in existing literature by evaluating the direct and indirect influences of EO on SME performance, offering valuable insights for practitioners and researchers alike.
