The main challenge of developing battery electric powertrains for the smart vehicle of the future is to mediate between the competing goals of high efficiency, low costs and at the same time high comfort. In order to resolve this conflict of goals, at TU Darmstadt innovative hybrid electric powertrain systems called "Two-drive Transmission" (TDT) are developed.
