To increase material availability for hydrogen applications, Poppe + Potthoff has optimized the alloy composition of a quenched and tempered steel as well as the internal production process for this steel. Called PPH2, this alternative to austenitic steels has proven its compatibility for use in hydrogen applications within the scope of an extensive material and component testing program. Its properties enable, for example, the production of thinner-walled high-pressure lines with a comparatively low CO2 footprint. …
