Abstract

This chapter explores the complex interplay between organizational identification, workaholism, and burnout, shedding light on why higher levels of organizational identification often lead to workaholism but not necessarily to burnout. The study reveals that organizational factors such as culture, job demands, and social support play pivotal roles in shaping these dynamics. By examining 147 research articles, the authors identify key factors that influence the relationship between these phenomena, providing a nuanced understanding of the mechanisms at play. The findings highlight the importance of fostering a supportive work environment to mitigate the negative effects of workaholism and prevent burnout. The chapter also discusses the role of personal factors, such as perfectionism and neuroticism, in driving workaholism, offering a comprehensive view of the interplay between individual and organizational elements. The research underscores the potential for organizations to enhance employee well-being by promoting positive organizational factors, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more productive work environment.
