Abstract

The article explores the extensive literature on Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and identifies a gap in the integration of product portfolio decisions. To address this, the authors propose a novel framework that links portfolio decisions with the S&OP process, enhancing strategic, tactical, and operational alignment. The study highlights the importance of this integration for optimizing business performance and provides a comprehensive analysis of existing S&OP frameworks, inputs, outputs, and objectives. The proposed framework offers a structured method for integrating product portfolio planning into S&OP designs, promising improved performance across various business dimensions.
