Abstract

In Zwickau, geprägt vom Automobilbau und seiner Zuliefererindustrie, ist das Auto ein bewährtes Fortbewegungsmittel. Viele, auch in der Größe vergleichbare Städte verfügen über einen so hohen PKW-Anteil im Modal Split wie die Stadt an der Mulde (Ahrens, 2016). Dagegen steht in der Realisierung des Alltagsverkehrs eine vergleichsweise geringe Nutzung der Verkehrsmittel des Umweltverbundes. Über Bundesautobahnen und -fernstraßen ist die Stadt exzellent mit der Region und übergeordneten Zentren vernetzt.
