Abstract

This chapter delves into the advanced topologies of power electronics for EV charging stations, focusing on integrating renewable energy sources and energy storage systems. It explores different charging levels and systems, including inductive, conductive, and battery swapping, and discusses the role of power electronics converters in interfacing between the power network and EV battery systems. The text also examines the integration of photovoltaic energy sources with smart grids and EV charging systems, highlighting the importance of energy management systems (EMS) in coordinating energy sharing and optimizing grid operations. Through comprehensive modeling and design, the chapter presents a control strategy for energy management that addresses various scenarios and operational conditions. Simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink validate the proposed EMS, demonstrating its effectiveness in managing energy distribution and reducing grid strain.
