Abstract

This chapter introduces an interactive management strategy for virtual power plants (VPPs) focused on minimizing carbon emissions through carbon demand response (CDR). The study explores the use of dynamic emission factors to guide energy consumption behaviors, aiming to reduce carbon footprints effectively. The chapter is structured around several key topics: the introduction of VPP low-carbon energy management, system models focusing on energy supply and demand, the CDR management method based on dynamic emission factors, and a detailed simulation analysis. The simulation analysis involves a VPP in a northern Chinese community during the heating season, considering various energy sources and factors like adjustable load and carbon tax. The results demonstrate that the proposed CDR mechanism can reduce carbon emissions by 9.3% and energy supply costs by 18.9% compared to traditional methods. The chapter concludes by highlighting the effectiveness of the dynamic emission factors in guiding users to adjust their energy consumption behaviors, thereby achieving significant reductions in carbon emissions and energy costs.
