Abstract

This chapter examines the problem of migration within national borders in the form of “Internally Displaced Persons” (IDPs)—migrants whose displacements are caused by war (Retratos en un mar de mentiras, C. Gaviria, 2010), large infrastructure development projects (Iracema, J. Bodansky & O. Senna, 1975), environmental disaster (El chico que miente, M. Ugás, 2010), and human rights violations (La frontera, P. Larraín, 1991). Stories assume different forms of movement (wanderings, searches, returns) or even stillness, and non-places abound, bringing the vulnerability of the characters to the fore.
