Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag werden Entwicklungen des digitalen Zeitalters wie Musik-Streaming, Betriebssysteme und Apps sowie soziale Netzwerke mit ökonomischen Modellen erklärt. Die teilweise sehr mathematischen Modelle aus der Industrie- und der Netzwerkökonomik werden aber nicht formal dargestellt. Stattdessen werden die Zusammenhänge intuitiv erklärt und mit aktuellen Beispielen illustriert.

Während Fixkosten, die z. B. beim Erwerb von Anlagen entstehen, zum Teil wieder durch den Verkauf dieser Anlagen zurückgeholt werden können, ist dies bei versunkenen Kosten nicht möglich. Beispiele sind die Kosten einer Werbekampagne oder Forschungs- und Entwicklungskosten.
